With space for four cars to park off-road, beautifully furnished interiors that blend old and new elements, and a fantastic location just a short drive from the stunning Northumberland National Park, this delightful cottage is perfect for a relaxing retreat.  

The fully-equipped kitchen/diner features an electric range cooker, washer/dryer, and a tastefully preserved brick-built hearth, making it a great place to prepare and savor meals with your loved ones. Alternatively, gather the whole group in the grand dining room to share a meal and catch up on the day’s events while raising a glass of wine to toast your trip.

In the evening, unwind in the cosy sitting room, where two comfortable sofas and a Smart TV create the perfect setting for watching a film. The woodburning stove adds a touch of warmth and ambiance to keep you snug as you enjoy your movie. When it’s time for a restful night’s sleep, head upstairs to freshen up with a refreshing shower before tucking yourself into one of the four luxurious bedrooms.

Harnham Hall Estate is a working farm and so at times you may encounter livestock and heavy machinery/tractors carrying out work on the farm.

Beautiful Northumberland Countryside

Harnham Hall Cottage is proudly situated on the Harnham Hall Estate in the Northumberland countryside, half way between Newcastle Upon Tyne and the Northumberland National Park.  

For those who enjoy leisurely walks and a connection with nature, Harnham provides the ideal setting. It offers a peaceful retreat in a rural location but is also within a few miles of several local attractions including National Trust and English Heritage properties.  

Bolam Lake is within 2 miles and is a country park with woodland, lakeside walks and a small cafe.  Belsay Hall is an English Heritage site that includes a medieval castle and has recently undergone renovation.  Roughly 5 miles away is Wallington Hall, a National Trust site with a historical house, extensive gardens, woodland, and cafe.  Northumberland has plenty to explore – see more to discover on our Explore page.  

Harnham Hall Estate is also an ideal base from which to explore the North East, including it’s UNESCO World Heritage site of Hadrian’s Wall.  The Northumberland Coastline is within reach with it’s seaside towns, rich history, castle and fabulous food.

A welcome pack is provided with fresh eggs from the farm’s free-range hens, fresh ground coffee, homemade cake, marshmallows, hot chocolate, and tea. 


Blacksmiths Coffee House

A great local family run coffee house in the village of Belsay (roughly 2 miles away).  Serving homecooked food and excellent for brunch, lunch or afternoon tea with daily/seasonal specials.

Beresford Arms

Serving homemade Northumbrian dishes and pub classics, this is a great pub with restaurant and beer garden.  Located in the village of Whalton, roughly 5 miles away.

By car 

From the south heading north on the A696, pass through Belsay village. After 2 miles take the right hand turn signposted Harnham.
From the north heading south on the A696, 5 miles after the Hexham junction and immediately after the Bradford turn, take the left turn signposted Harnham.

This is a small single track country lane. Follow this road until you meet a gate, pass through the gate making sure to close it behind you.
The parking for Longriggs is to the left of the lane just before the tight corner and steep climb to Harnham.

By public transport 

Nearest train station is at Callerton Parkway near Newcastle airport, 8.9 miles.
Hosts can collect guest if arranged in advance.
